Introduction

Hi welcome to my blog! My name is Asha Filleul and this blog is to document my adventures on the Windeward Bound.

I have been fortunate enough to be selected as a participant in the 2019 Youth Leadership Challenge. Part of the challenge is to fundraise for both my passage and a partnered new Tasmanian’s passage and I would also like to acknowledge and thank those generous businesses and people who have agreed to sponsor me. Please take a look at my post of sponsors for more information but I’d especially like to thank the people involved with the Windeward Bound for running these programs and changing the lives of many teenagers. My first three day voyage on this magnificent tall ship was a life changing experience and to be able to go again not only as a participant, but as mentor for ten days, will not only be life changing, but will equip me with new skills for the future.

How pretty is the sunset of God’s creation…

Background to the experience

On the 17th to the 19th of May 2019 I (Asha Filleul) was aboard a ship called the Windeward Bound. This trip was a three day tall ship/ careers adventure out on the sea. We left Hobart Port on the 17th of May and sailed to Oyster Bay for our second day to explore while we were anchored. Then we sailed back to the port the following day on the 19th of May. This picture was taken on the starboard side of the ship on the second day of the trip, while my group was on a break.
